Funny Bible Verses (3)

I think there is a market for a Funny Bible Verses database… I get a lot of hits through a Google search on those words since I posted two times on it. (So, this a strategic post – by mentioning it again my hitrate will only go up.) Let me see if I can add a couple of new funny Bible verses.

Of course Proverbs is a great source of biblical humour, for example in 21:9: “It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house“; Proverbs 27:14:  “He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.

And then there is the story of the mocking kids in 2 Kings 2:23: “And Elisha went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.” This is only partly funny, because it did not end well for the little kids. And by the way: by this story we know that Elisha was bald, but did you know that Elijah was a hairy person? See 2 Kings 1:8: “And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.” So, there is hope for any kind of person to be used by God 🙂
