A helmet and a sword
It was my turn to speak in church last Sunday. We have covered the bible book of Ephesians this last year, and are almost to an end. My topic this time was the last two pieces of the spiritual armor: the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. I used a Powerpoint with it, which worked out really well (mainly because of the funny pictures…).
Read the summary in Word (in Dutch) here.
My message in a nutshell:
- Live in the consciousness of your salvation and your position in Christ: you’re saved from sin, and made a child of God.
Nothing is better or higher than this, and living it out will guard your mind and soul. - Practise your sword: read and speak words of God, through the bible, through prophecy. It is necessary to learn to discern the voice of the Spirit, so that when there is real confrontation, you know what to do.
- When the battle starts: use the bible to hold up the Truth against the lie. Therefore: believe wholeheartedly in the thruth of the bible.
- Trust God that He will do his part – it is his armor you put on!
