Review

Rating: 8

There is some (much?) controversy about Joseph Prince, who pastors ‘New Creation Church’ in Singapore. I have gotten to know his ministry already some time ago through friends and through his sermons on CD. It was great fun to hear someone speak from a familiar theological perspective (many of his ideas on grace, righteousness and so on are actually Brethern theology) but in a vibrant, lively way as I’d never heard in my Brethern-years.
In this book he basically writes down what he preaches for years already. And as he is a very talkative, humorous and somewhat unstructured preacher, so is his book. I don’t particularly like his style of writing, but the topics in itself are addressing all the important issues. A more systematic and focussed approach would have improved the book (there are many offsides and repetitions), but I found another source that does this (Classic Christianity by Bob George). So this is a fun book to read, although I do not agree with everything he says.

Update: I found a very good review here.
