I got this book through a publisher friend, who wanted to use it in the context of the Olympics. It lives up to the title: it is a friendly dialogue between two people of totally different backgrounds, upbringing and beliefs. Palau manages to really address many of the issues that Zhao Qizheng raises. Qizheng however, although very erudite and seemingly willing to discuss religion and faith, politely stays on the surface. Often, he does not directly faces the questions and issues of Palau. This might be one of the cultural differences in communication style, but I got the feeling that it was more than that. Anyway, Palau gives a honest, warm, true gospel presentation. I only felt him somewhat naive in his response towards the freedom of religion in China, but that might also be because he did not want the conversation to become too political.
