What’s news

Have been working all night on our first ‘official’ newsletter, to be sent out tomorrow. It’s a lot of work, but we must see it as an investment. The actual writing is kinda fun, but the logistics are terrible. We already heard people say that the strangest things happen when working on the newsletters – must be spiritual battle or so… We’ll have it translated … Lees verder What’s news

Yesterday I went to London for the third time in just a few weeks for the IAS project I am working on. The reason we went yesterday was kind of remarkable: the lady we had to meet, who was frequently in Amsterdam, is pregnant and does not fly anymore during her pregnancy. So, we had to go there – reluctantly, of course. ABN AMRO London … Lees verder Yesterday I went to London for the third time in j…

The BIG news

Well, a looonnnggg time ago I already mentioned that big news was coming up. I decided for several reasons however that it was better not to reveal too early what this news would be. But, now is the time. Here’s the thing: we are going to be in missions… with Agapè The Netherlands!! Yes, that is quite a change. As of January 2004, I will … Lees verder The BIG news

Brethern?

I just recently found out that I should be careful how to describe the ‘denomination’ of our former church in Amsterdam. I have often named it ‘Brethern Church’, but I think it is not entirely correct. Many Brethern Churches have Mennonite origins, and although Menno Simons was a Dutchman, our former church is definitely not Mennonite. The better description would be ‘Brethern Assembly’, with its … Lees verder Brethern?

Church Seekers (4) So, finally we got to go to another church: the ‘Wegwijzer’ (the ‘Signpost’). It was very interesting, because this evangelical church was started by an orthodox reformed church. So, on the one hand you have the framework of the evangelicals (welcome, worship, sermon, announcements) and on the other hand you have some ‘old’ church habits such as the scripture reading, that is … Lees verder Church Seekers (4) So, finally we got to go to …

Found this in my email archive, I thought it was rather funny…. A Guide to Success The Lion King was right — it really is a “circle of life.” At age 4, success is…not peeing in your pants. At age 12, success is…having friends. At age 16, success is…having a driver’s license. At age 20, success is…having sex. At age 35, success is…having money. Major historic moment never-to-forget: We have ADSL! Since about 10 minutes my ADSL connection is up and running, so no worries anymore about dial-in costs and so… Well, I have this very cheap offer with a data limit of too little a month, but I was not planning on downloading Lord of the Rings anyway… I really can’t believe it works, it has been quite … Lees verder Major historic moment never-to-forget: We have ADS…

Church Seekers (3) Okay, I know you are all waiting for the new church seeking update… and here it is. Last Sunday we went to the Rafael church. This was a very pleasant meeting, I must say. Actually, we knew the speaker, he is an old friend of my parents with a ‘brethern assembly’ background. So, we expected to have sound biblical teaching, and we … Lees verder Church Seekers (3) Okay, I know you are all wai…
